Rye is a very memorable place for us; it was the first place we went to together. Previously the time we spent together was mainly at work or in a group after work (shout out to: Greg, Amanda, Duncan, and Susanne :)). When things started to get serious we then started to plan our first weekend together, for weeks we talked about Rye and what we would do. The waiting paid off, Rye for us is perfect and it was just a wonderful weekend, which we will never forget.
We have been to Rye many times, during the scallop festival and general days out grabbing food and beer from The Mermaid Inn. Consequently, when we got engaged it was a no brainer, we had to get married in Rye! Furthermore, The Mermaid Inn had to be part of our day.
Rye is considered a seaside town, even though the sea is nearly two miles away. Rye made up of a labyrinth of cobbled streets all steeped in history. Due to the location means that this town has seen a lot of action: invasions, smuggling, flooding and shipwrecks.
